Discover More about Wooden Business Cards

Traditional business cards lack the warmth and natural beauty that wood cards do. Wood cards are ideal for an artisan, designer, or contemporary business since they have a beautiful yet natural, one-of-a-kind aesthetic. Our wooden business cards are expertly created to offer any business card a natural appearance. You’ll be able to observe the distinct variances in the grain whether you choose Cherry Wood or Beech.

Our timeless wooden business cards are created using our state-of-the-art CO2 laser-milling machines, The words and artwork are then laser engraved into the card’s surface at a stunning resolution of 1200dpi. Additionally, this card can be improved with laser engraving and silk screening to create a truly distinctive business card.

As well as laser cutting through the wooden business card, we can also change the shape of the card by die cutting wood from the edges in to any custom shape you need. There is no additional expense as long as the chosen shape fits within the dimensions of a regular card.

The veneer and core used to make our wooden business cards are obtained from managed forests and are entirely sustainable, biodegradable and compostable. No toxic chemicals are needed because we use light to etch rather than ink to print the design.

Beech Wood Cards

Beech is the lightest wood color we offer. This soft-grained cream-colored wood has a delicate grain. Beech has a similar appearance to Balsa wood, but it has a longer grain and is a tougher wood.

Basswood Business Cards

This stock has a light color and a more mild wood texture, making it ideal for brightly colored artwork.

Cherry Wood Cards

This alternative has a thicker wood grain design and is a medium wood tone in a distinctive cherry color.

Walnut Wood Business Cards

This darker brown wood hue is ideal for dark-colored designs. For the greatest results, use black ink or white foil.

How should you look after your wooden business cards?

Wood is a natural substance that contracts and expands in response to environmental factors such as temperature and humidity. To keep your wood product in the best condition, strive to keep it away from extreme temperature and humidity changes.

Excessive moisture might cause the wood stock to distort, therefore we recommend keeping the humidity between 50 and 70 percent. Humidity levels that are too high or too low can cause wood to distort. In very rare circumstances, warping, contraction, or expansion of the wood caused by temperature can cause the two plies to curl apart near the margins of 2-ply items.

To keep your wood products in good condition, store them in a paper container (or wrap them in paper) to keep moisture out.

If your wood product is warping, stretch it out in a room with a typical room temperature (about 25 degrees Celsius) and the necessary humidity levels. The warping can be fixed by adding pressure (try placing something flat and heavy on top, like a textbook).

Why you need wooden business cards

The natural wood grain texture of our Wood Product Line is a little rougher than average paper. As a result, there are a few things to keep in mind while printing on wood in order to achieve the best results.

Natural wood cards must be printed two-sided with a wood or paper backing. The printed design will show through the textured wood grain finish. Color shifting in the design might be caused by the color of the wood. Color change will be more evident in darker wood stocks, such as Cherry and Walnut. Minimalist designs with minimal ink coverage are the most effective. The best effects will come from bold, high-contrast designs. Natural Birch, Natural Cherry, and Natural Walnut are the three hues available.

What kind of wood do you use and where do you get it?

Our wood stocks are made entirely of virgin wood. The timber is sourced from environmentally friendly sources. Water (as in the pulping process for paper) and chemicals are not used in the production of wood stock (such as bleach and colour for paper).

What file types should my artwork be?

JPG, PDF, EPS, TIFF, AI, and PS are among the file types that can be uploaded (PostScript).

Ensure that your PDF file is saved in normal PDF/X format (PDF/X3 or PDF/X1a) directly from your graphics application. When saving artworks, utilize the “1.3 compatibility” setting to avoid problems with layers and transparencies during the printing process.

If you’re delivering TIFF files, keep the number of layers to a minimum.

Please do not utilize pre-separated data from DCS EPS to avoid color variations or difficulties with the printed image.

Do you offer variable data?

Yes, we offer variable data on all our products. Variable data printing allows for unique details to be added to each individual card such as numbers, addresses and names with the rest of the card design remaining the same. A good example is a postcard which has one design but a unique address printed on each invidivual card. Business cards for many people with the identical logos and address details, or membership cards with a unique membership number, are more examples of this. On our metal cards, variable data is available and can be laser etched or coated with a spot color.

You must submit the original font file with your artwork to use variable printing.

The personalisation that is involved distinguishes variable data printing from regular printing. Personalization allows a business to establish a relationship with its clients. Variable data printing is more than just a variable name or address in a printed item; in the past, a variable name would have sufficed because variable data printing was a novel notion. Personalization in today’s society must represent the customer’s values. VDP needs to know something about its customers in order to be successful. A consumer who enjoys sports, for example, would receive a VDP postcard featuring an image of their favorite baseball player. Because the buyer is more likely to read the contents of the postcard, it is effective. Sending the same consumer a postcard with an image of a soccer player is an example of an inefficient VDP piece. If the buyer does not care about soccer, he or she may or may not notice the postcard. The goal is to provide value to the customer through being able to relate to them. Personalization enables a business to relate to, engage with, and potentially start a relationship with a potential consumer, as well as maintain a relationship with current customers. A consumer who has been converted into a prospect can then be converted into a loyal customer. Companies want to build long-term relationships with their consumers, and variable data printing may help them do so by providing high-quality work and support.

Do my artworks need bleed?

All files should have a 2mm bleed on either side to guarantee that there are no white spaces on the printed output. This means that your design should always be 2mm larger than the actual print format (including photos and graphics). Failure to do so may result in minor differences, such as white margins. Place typefaces and vital aspects of your drawing at least 3mm away from the final format (not counting bleeding) and avoid using edges as edges in layouts to ensure that they are visible.

Optional: If supplying data in an open format for printing, the bleed should be 4mm on each side (e.g., A4 size including bleed should be 301 x 214mm). – Please prepare a file with 3mm bleed on either side if submitting files for presentation folders, banners, monthly calendars, packaging, or any other promotional technology goods. – Envelopes should have a 1mm bleed on all sides. The elastic frames made of textile must be bled 15mm.

Please refer to our artwork instructions if you require additional information.

What is a full bleed design?

A design is called full bleed when it is printed within 0.25″ of the card’s edges. This varies from ordinary printing in that the designs must be printed before the cards are trimmed to ensure appropriate alignment and design work.

In white and metallic ink printing, as well as offset printing, we offer complete bleed price. A fee is applied to all other finishes.

Full bleed (designs that extend to the edges of your card) necessitates the use of bigger plates. If a design gets within 0.25″ of a card’s edge, it is considered full bleed. Plate stamping techniques such as foil stamping, debossing, embossing, letterpress, and thermography are used in many of our print features. Any designs that are within 0.25″ of the card’s edge will require larger plates to be completed appropriately. If your design is within 0.25″ of the card edge, choose this option.

What type of finishes do you offer on your metal cards?

There are three different finishes available for our metal cards: mirror finished, original finish and brushed finished. Our gold, rose gold, and stainless steel metal cards have a delightfully rich feel thanks to mirror finishing, which produces a highly reflecting and polished surface. The final outcome of mirror polishing is elegant and beautiful.

Our stainless steel metal card stock has an original finish. It is not as reflective as mirror finishing, but it does give a distinct ‘metal’ impression and a sophisticated gloss. It has a similar sheen to most high-end stainless steel appliances and gadgets.

Brushed finishing is the third type of finish available in our metal card collection. This finish creates a delicate linear brush pattern across the card’s un-etched region. It’s perfect for cards with a lot of etching or a lot of un-etched surface.

For more information on these types of finishes, please see our Printing Features FAQs.

Are you an environmentally friendly printer?

Yes we certainly are! We have the most comprehensive selection of soy ink-based eco-friendly printing materials in New York, including recycled business cards, brochures, presentation folders, sales sheets, stationery, catalogs, flyers, calendars, and more. Our regular stock is now recycled paper.

The printing sector has a bad reputation for environmental stewardship, with excessive use of water and electricity, paper waste, and the usage of volatile chemicals that result in toxic waste in the past. One of Luxury Printing’s main interests is environmental protection, and we aim to put our world first.

And here’s how we set ourself apart:
– Using soy-based inks as standard
– Using recycled paper stocks as standard
– Printing processes that reduce paper usage, such as duplex printing
– Modern equipment that consume less energy
– Elimination of hazardous and volatile substances
– We recycle our printing plates, press blankets, bottles, cans, and containers.
– We recycle superfluous machines and computer parts.
